Mixing AMSOIL motor oil with other oils, however, will shorten the oil's life expectancy and reduce its performance benefits. AMSOIL does not support extended drain intervals where oils have been mixed.

Why are different SAPS levels necessary?
Some emissions systems and after-treatment devices, such as diesel particulate filters, are sensitive to the ash content in motor oils and require oil with lower sulfated ash, phosphorus and sulfur (SAPS) content, such as European Car Formula 5W-40 Improved Emissions System Protection Synthetic Motor Oil (AFL) or European Car Formula 5W-30 Improved Emissions System Protection Synthetic Motor Oil (AEL), to properly function for a long period of time. Many vehicles, however, are not equipped with diesel particulate filters that are sensitive to higher SAPS levels and are best protected by full-SAPS oils, such as European Car Formula 5W-40 Classic Emissions System Protection Synthetic Motor Oil (EFM) or European Car Formula OW-40 Classic Emissions System Protection Synthetic Motor Oil (EFO). The proper SAPS level for a vehicle is defined by the specifications from the vehicle manufacturer.
