AMSOIL SABER® Professional Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil

AMSOIL SABER® Professional Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil
AMSOIL SABER® Professional Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil
Product Details
SABER Professional eliminates the problems that plague handheld two-stroke equipment using other oils, including hard starting, rough running, power loss and shortened service life.
Product Description
We tested SABER Professional at a 100:1 mix ratio compared to other two-stroke oils at 50:1, and the results are clear: SABER Professional dominated the competition in every area of performance. Even when using half as much oil, SABER Profesional does a better job fighting carbon deposits that rob engines of power and reduce their service life. It helps landscapers, contractors and other professionals work more efficiently and cut costs.

Improves Engine Operation & Life
SABER Professional’s high-quality synthetic base oils burn more cleanly than other synthetic and conventional base oils. It eliminates carbon deposits that lead to stuck piston rings, clogged exhaust ports and plugged spark arrestor screens. Following 300 hours of professional-use testing in ECHO* string trimmers, SABER Professional mixed at 100:1 resisted carbon better than ECHO Power Blend* XTended Life* Universal 2-Stroke Oil mixed at 50:1 (see images). For complete test results, see the ECHO 100:1 String Trimmer Technical Study (G3470).

Cuts Oil Costs
Mixing SABER Professional at 100:1 cuts oil costs by 50 percent or more while still providing unmatched protection and performance. It allows professionals the best of both worlds — reduced costs and increased protection.

Smokeless Operation
SABER Professional passes the industry-standard smoke test at the standard rich mix ratio. When mixed at the SABER Ratio, smoke is virtually undetectable. Equipment operators subjected to smoke and fumes benefit from these low-emission properties.

- Excellent lubricity and cleanliness
- Controls friction and helps prevent wear, plug fouling, ring sticking and exhaust port blocking
- Smokeless – delivers fewer emissions at 80:1 and 100:1
- Stabilizes fuel during storage
- Delivers outstanding protection and performance at lean mix ratios

Fuel Stabilization
SABER Professional provides the additional benefit of fuel stabilization to help prevent fuel from deteriorating during storage and causing poor engine performance. There is no need to add an additional fuel stabilizer when putting equipment into seasonal storage.

APPLICATIONS
Use in all two-stroke handheld equipment where JASO FD,, ISO-L-EGD or API-TC oils are specified, including STIHL*, ECHO*, Toro*, Shindaiwa*, Craftsman*, 4-mix STIHL and Hybrid 4 Shindaiwa engines.

Use at conventional mix ratios or the SABER® Ratio,™ regardless of the mix ratio specified for the equipment. For maximum benefit, use the SABER Ratio.

SABER® PROFESSIONAL PROVES ITSELF IN STIHL® STRING TRIMMERS
Saber® professional proves itself in stihl® string trimmers
Professional-use string trimmers, mowers, backpack blowers and other equipment can run continuously in hot, wet and dirty conditions for months straight. In these conditions, equipment can wear out seasonally, representing the perfect environment for putting AMSOIL products to the test.

Get the SABER’s edge
Before the 2016 summer landscaping season, we purchased three new STIHL FS56RC string trimmers and gave them to Duluth Lawn Care, based in Duluth, Minn. The company relies on a fleet of professional-use mowers, string trimmers and other equipment to provide fast, high-quality lawn-mowing and other services to its 4,500 clients. Historically, the company accumulates about 600 hours per season on each of its string trimmers prior to replacement.
Typical use included continuous daily operation in high heat; wet, humid conditions; exposure to airborne dirt and other contaminants and the general daily abuse of professional-use equipment.
Each trimmer accumulated approximately 600 hours – far more time than the average homeowner puts on a trimmer. After the season, we disassembled the trimmers and checked for wear, carbon buildup and other distress. Select results are shown here.
Saber® professional proves itself in stihl® string trimmers
After a full season of severe-service at mixed 100:1, AMSOIL SABER Professional...
- Prevented piston-ring sticking for maximum power
- Eliminated carbon deposits in the exhaust port for optimum airflow and power
- Fought engine wear for reliable operation
- Reduced oil costs 65%

SABER fights carbon
Heavy carbon build up can be a problem in professional-use equipment. Oils with poor detergency allow carbon to form in the piston ring lands, on the piston crown, in the exhaust port and on the spark arrestor screen. Carbon chokes off airflow through the engine, robbing the engine of power. It also causes the piston rings to stick in their grooves and fail to form a tight seal against the cylinder wall. The engine loses compression, leading to power loss. This adds up to frustrated workers in the field who can’t work as quickly or efficiently as they need to complete jobs on time and up to standards.
As the images show, SABER Professional nearly eliminated carbon deposits to keep Duluth Lawn Care’s STIHL trimmers running strong all season.

Cuts oil costs
Duluth Lawn Care also saved money on total oil cost. Mixing SABER Professional at 100:1 saved them 65% compared to the cost they would have paid had they used the original equipment manufacturer oil at the conventional 50:1 mix ratio.
Given SABER’s excellent performance, we reassembled the trimmers and returned them to Duluth Lawn Care, allowing the company to use its trimmers longer than historically possible with other oils.

AMSOIL Saber Test B
Heavy carbon deposits in the exhaust port and on the spark arrestor screen are often to blame. Here’s how it works.

Internal combustion engines require a steady supply of air to run properly and produce maximum power. The engine draws air through the intake and burns it, along with the fuel/oil, in the combustion chamber. The moving piston expels the exhaust gases through the exhaust port and spark arrestor screen on the muffler. In a properly running engine, this happens thousands of times a minute and goes unnoticed by the operator.
Two-stroke oils with poor detergency properties, however, can allow carbon deposits to build-up in the exhaust port and on the spark arrestor screen. Carbon chokes off airflow, which causes the engine to slowly lose power and run poorly. Soon, it becomes hard to start or fails to run altogether unless you clean the exhaust port (which requires removing the muffler) and spark arrestor screen. Most operators don’t want to waste time cleaning deposits, especially busy professional landscapers who need to complete jobs quickly and efficiently.
